Volunteers are people who want to help their community's children. They work for the judge, alongside attorneys, and the Department of Child Services.
CASA volunteers search for information, interview parents, talk to teachers, consult therapists and most importantly, get to know the children they serve.
Be 21 years of age or older
Have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent
Successfully pass all criminal and child welfare background checks
Provide personal and professional references
Successfully complete an in-depth interview with CASA staff
It takes approximately 8 to 10 hours per month to be a CASA volunteer. This time commitment is heavily focused on case research, meeting all of the parties to the case, and visiting the child/children once a month. It is hard work, but extremely gratifying.
You must complete 30 hours of pre-service training and complete pre-service court observation time. We offer a few courses a year - contact us to find out when our next class is!
We love our visitors, so feel free to stop by!
